Fall Semester - Marching Band
The San Marcos Marching Band and Colorguard functions as both a competition and show band. They perform during half time at SMHS varsity football games and at the annual Santa Barbara Downtown Holiday Parade. They compete throughout Southern California but have also been to several state and national competitions.
The Marching Band includes brass, woodwind, battery percussion, and front ensemble percussion instruments. The Color Guard combines weapon and flag work with movement and dance which drives the concepts of the show and adds fantastic visuals to the show.

Competitions:
San Marcos competes primarily in SCSBOA (Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association). Each year, SCSBOA adjudicates over 60 competitive field tournaments and over 40 competitive band reviews throughout southern California. Each December, the SCSBOA Field Championships feature performances by the 12 highest scoring marching bands (in 6 divisions) from throughout the fall season. 2025 Fall Season: Mini Camp #1: June 17-19 Time 9:00 AM-1:00 PM (at SMHS) Mini Camp #2: July 8-10 Time 9:00 AM-1:00 PM (at SMHS) BAND CAMP: August 11 - 15 MARCHING BAND CAMP DAYS AT SMHS ALL MEMBERS MANDATORY, NO EXCEPTIONS! 9:30 AM-12:00 PM, 1:30-4:00 PM and 5:30-8:30 PM Parents are invited to the final hours of Band Camp, Friday, August 15. We will have a mandatory parent meeting at 5:30PM. "Welcome to the Band" Family BBQ at 6:00PM. Preview Performance at 7:15PM. Monday Night Rehearsals Once school starts 6:00-9:00 pm. These rehearsals are a required part of the Marching Band grade. Starts the week of August 19th and runs until Thanksgiving week. Extra Rehearsals On MOST minimum days and holidays we will have rehearsals. The home football game schedule for 2025: All games are 5:00 Call Time (7 pm game) unless stated otherwise.
