The San Marcos Winter Guard is a continuation of the Colorguard ensemble that is held indoors. This is a full credit class that is offered during Spring Semester and is a combination of dance and weapon work. This ensemble competes in both WGI and WGASC circuits.

- A great class for dancing and performing.

Jazz Band (“Jazz Ensemble Adv P”),
The San Marcos Royals Jazz Band rehearses and performs all styles of Jazz, Blues, Latin and Contemporary Big Band music. They perform at school functions, community events, private parties, fundraisers and festival competitions.

- A year-round program: fall semester on Mondays & Thursdays 5th period (after school 3:05-4:45pm), spring semester, 3rd period.
- Performing Arts elective credit
- Trips to Monterey Jazz Festival and performances throughout Southern California.
- Instruments: Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Soprano Sax, Trombone, Bass Trombone, Trumpet, Stand-up Bass or Bass Guitar, Guitar, Piano, Vibes, Drum set.
Spring Musical (Pit Orchestra)
The Pit Orchestra accompanies the theater and vocal performance students in the Spring Musical. Members of the Pit Orchestra are a select group of woodwind, brass, string and percussion students playing original scores and arrangements written for the professional versions of each musical. In spring 2018, the musical was “Into the Woods.”
